Facts about your family:
I’m from a family of four. I have one sister who is two years younger. I have a large extended family on my mom’s side of the family. Many of my relatives from this side of the family live in Mexico City. I’m the first one in my family to attend college and pursue higher education.
Why did you choose to attend The University of Texas at Austin?
I decided to attend the university because of all the things it has to offer. From the rich academic experience to the variety in student organizations and the simple culture of the UT community, the university has provided me with the best environment for my college journey.
What do you want to do when you graduate from the university?
After graduation I plan to attend law school and focus on finding ways to use my legal education to advocate for children’s rights. I am very passionate about children’s rights and ensuring every child gets what they need for proper development.
If you had to choose one thing about yourself to share with the university’s Web audience, what would it be?
I’m a fashionista! As much as I love being a leader, getting involved with research in my academic courses and reading The Economist, I have a passion for fashion.
Who are your heroes?
My parents and all of those who are fighters — those who dream and believe.
If you could travel to one spot anywhere in the world, where would you want to visit?
Ireland — definitely Ireland.
What are your favorite books? What books would you recommend to someone you just met?
What pushes your buttons? What are your pet peeves?
When people are not respectful of other people’s time. When people generalize/make judgments about certain things.
What are your favorite Web sites? Why?
- The New York Times — I like to stay updated.
- Blog sites — I find it amusing what some people can write about.
- The UT Web site (especially the Know section) — it’s nice to see what other Longhorns are up to.
What are your favorite foods?
Italian and Mexican.
What music are you listening to?
Frank Sinatra/Michael Bublé.
What are your all-time favorite movies? Why?
- “Enough” — the plot (must see).
- “A Walk to Remember” — a cliché, but a classic.
- “Changeling” — very powerful story.
Who are your favorite artists?
Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Andrea Bocelli.
What are your favorite academic subjects? What are you interested in studying in the future?
I’ve always loved math and greatly enjoy all of my upper-division social work and sociology courses, as well as any course on leadership and/or ethics. I plan to study law and possibly public policy in the future.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
The Texas Union.
Where are your favorite places to go in Austin? What are your favorite things to do in Austin?
Coffee shops (Mozart’s, Halcyon), Barton Springs pool and restaurants (Serranos, Casa Chapala, Rudy’s barbecue, Juan in a Million). I enjoy going to festivals, live music and events hosted by different organizations.
What are your favorite free-time activities?
Dancing, shopping, watching movies, karaoke and exercising.

That’s one of my favorite quotes. I live life with passion day by day. I believe things can change, injustice can be lessened, all individuals have some sort of struggle and family and friends are precious. All in all, I’m a dreamer and a believer.
