Facts about your family:
I’m blessed enough to have two loving parents who would do anything for me, an older brother who also attends UT and is willing to set aside his studying to help me with mine, a younger sister who’s more like my best friend, and another little sister who’s probably the most awesome little girl I’ve ever known.
Why did you choose to attend The University of Texas at Austin?
It was the only school in Texas that interested me at all. I loved that it was a big diverse campus located in such a great city.
What do you want to do when you graduate from the university?
Be a writer.
If you had to choose one thing about yourself to share with the university’s Web audience, what would it be?
I value trust. Both being worthy of it and being able to give it.
Who are your heroes?
Jesus and several authors.
If you could travel to one spot anywhere in the world, where would you want to visit?
Italy, I’ve always just wanted to go there for some reason.
What are your current favorite books? What books would you recommend to someone you just met?
I will always and forever love the Bible, “The Chronicles of Narnia,” “Ender’s Game,” “The Book Thief,” “Jane Eyre,” “A Wrinkle in Time” and “The Princess Bride.” They’re the books I keep coming back to and I would recommend any of them.
What pushes your buttons? What are your pet peeves?
People who know everything (about nothing), drivers who leave their turns signals on/never use them (very dangerous), and people who automatically reject anything or anybody that’s different.
What are your favorite Web sites? Why?
Xanga because I love reading what other people have to say. YouTube because you can find anything on there. Facebook because I’m a college student.
What are your favorite foods?
Rice. Actually just Chinese fried rice and any rice my mom makes. I also really like bacon.
What music are you listening to?
Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, The Killers, Feist, Switchfoot and Rilo Kiley are always within the click of a button for me. And I just recently discovered the amazing Keane.
What are your all-time favorite movies? Why?
“Gladiator,” “V for Vendetta,” “Hotel Rwanda,” “Titanic,” “Schindler’s List” and “A Walk to Remember.” They’re all powerful movies with a strong message about love, freedom and humanity. And I cried during all of them.
Who are your favorite artists?
Coldplay is my favorite band. Followed closely by Switchfoot and the Killers.
What are your favorite academic subjects? What are you interested in studying in the future?
English has always been my favorite subject. I’m interested in studying anything that has to do with books and writing.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
I think that right outside the Perry-Castañeda Library, during nice weather, is a great place to study.
Where are your favorite places to go in Austin? What are your favorite things to do in Austin?
I haven’t been here long enough to know Austin that well, but I went to West Austin with a friend one day, and the scenery was beautiful.
What are your favorite free-time activities?
Reading novels, hanging out with friends and sleeping. Not necessarily in that order, though.
