Facts about your family:
My dad is an operations manager at Old Dominion Freight Line. My mom is an accountant for a company that deals with the government. My brother, Louie, 15, is a super-motivated, musical, band person. My sister, Tanya, 10, is a lovable drama queen whose hobbies include, but are never limited to, Build-a-bear, “High School Musical” and “Hannah Montana.”
Why did you choose to attend The University of Texas at Austin?
The city of Austin provides me with many opportunities I would not have been able to experience elsewhere. The University of Texas at Austin gives me the opportunity to meet with thousands of people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures. Not to mention the credibility of having a degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
What do you want to do when you graduate from the university?
I’d like to work at a public relations firm in Texas. I am trying to get into the major. I’d also like to become a published author, professor and, someday, motivational speaker.
If you had to choose one thing about yourself to share with the university’s Web audience, what would it be?
I hope to inspire people to further their education.
Who are your heroes?
Superman, Cesar Chavez, Lord Byron, Shakespeare, Orwell and all of those who have seen me grow from the beginning.
If you could travel to one spot anywhere in the world, where would you want to visit?
Paris, France. I studied French in high school and I have maintained it well enough to converse successfully with several francophones. I’ve never had the opportunity to practice it in a city though.
What are your current favorite books? What books would you recommend to someone you just met?

I’d give someone a “Norton’s Anthology of Poetry.” It is magnificent to have so many great works in one book.
What pushes your buttons? What are your pet peeves?
I don’t like people who try to belittle others. We should all be supportive of each other in society. I also don’t like pessimists. Some tasks may sound difficult to achieve, but if you had told Thomas Edison that one could not light a room at night and he had believed him, life would be different.
What are your favorite Web sites? Why?
I don’t hang out on Web sites too much. I check my mail, Facebook, etc., but overall checking a Web site for fun is not my cup of tea.
What are your favorite foods?
I love any and all Mexican food. I like cooking Mexican food, too. Even the occasional pizza gets a Mexican food twist with a bottle of Valentina hot sauce.
What music are you listening to?
Light Grenades by Incubus. I just saw them in concert and they are incredible.
What are your all-time favorite movies? Why?
I love “Pan’s Labyrinth.” It shows that people can have free imaginations without fearing what society tries to instill on them. I also really, really love the “Superman” movies, “X-Men” movies and “Harry Potter” movies.

What are your favorite academic subjects? What are you interested in studying in the future?
I love my English and Spanish classes. I never leave those classes empty-minded. I’m really looking forward to taking more Mexican American studies classes, and advertising/radio-television-film classes.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
I love anywhere with a view. My room has a nice view of the Tower. The Texas Union has a balcony that overlooks Guadalupe.
Where are your favorite places to go in Austin? What are your favorite things to do in Austin?
I love to go to the malls. Barton Creek and Lakeline are incredible! I also love hanging out on the newly renamed Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge and on Lady Bird Lake. There is nothing better than to reconnect with nature in downtown.
What are your favorite free-time activities?
I love writing…sounds weird, I know. I also like singing karaoke, playing video games, visiting with friends and just relaxing.

I used to be my high school’s mascot. I made the All-American and All-Star Teams and received NCAA’s Best Mascot Award.
