Facts about your family:
My younger brother and I both speak Chinese with my parents. We try to hold on to our Chinese traditions even though we both were born and raised in Houston.
Why did you choose to attend The University of Texas at Austin?
I was looking for quality education in the greatest state in America. I’m also a city slicker, so I feel very comfortable on a large campus. Besides, nothing beats a good old-fashioned barbecue.
What do you want to do when you graduate from the university?
I will hopefully seek out a job at a top-level aeronautics company. Otherwise I will pursue further education in a master’s degree.
If you had to choose one thing about yourself to share with the university’s Web audience, what would it be?
I’ve got a Facebook, too!
Who are your heroes?
George Carlin because he’s quite possibly the funniest man who ever lived.
If you could travel to one spot anywhere in the world, where would you want to visit?
I’ve always wanted to go to the Pyramids of Egypt since “The Mummy” came out 10 years ago.
What are your current favorite books? What books would you recommend to someone you just met?
My favorite book is the short story “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes. I really like this story because it’s made me value education and knowledge. I would recommend “Furello” by Harriet Fabrick because it’s given me insight into the meaning of the world and life itself.
What pushes your buttons? What are your pet peeves?
I really don’t like people who are stubborn. People who are so sure of themselves that they cannot see a situation in a different way.
What are your favorite Web sites? Why?
Mastashih.com because it’s a very interesting Web site that everyone should check out!
What are your favorite foods?
I love Chinese food. For those of you from Houston, check out Yangtze Restaurant. Other than that, I love eating absolutely everything, sushi, falafel, noodles and you can’t forget the fajitas.
What music are you listening to?
I listen to absolutely everything, classical to alternative, breakbeats to country, and rap to opera. I have opinions about music, and I can get to know a person through their music. My favorite kind of music is trance music, but lately I’ve been checking out Cobra Starship. All-time favorites include ATB, Linkin Park, Michael Jackson, Lupe Fiasco, Hot Action Cop, Global Deejays, Atreyu, Jay Chou, Duran Duran and New Order.
What are your all-time favorite movies? Why?
I’m a fiend for all James Bond movies. “Diamonds Are Forever” is my favorite. James Bond is just so classy. My other favorite movie is “Lord Of War” with Nicholas Cage. It’s my favorite because the movie gives some insight into the arms trade in modern times. “Back To The Future” is another good movie because the ’80s were such a crazy time.
Who are your favorite artists?
Patrick Nagel, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Edgar Degas. No seriously, I enjoy art, especially Impressionist art.
What are your favorite academic subjects? What are you interested in studying in the future?
All through school I’ve loved history. I used to read encyclopedias when I was little.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
Jester because, well, everything happens there.
Where are your favorite places to go in Austin? What are your favorite things to do in Austin?
Favorite place to go in Austin is hands-down, no contest, the Guadalupe drag. On that note, my favorite thing to do in Austin is eat.
What are your favorite free-time activities?
Playing video games, eBaying, and catching up with old friends.
