Why did you choose to attend The University of Texas at Austin?
I chose The University of Texas at Austin because, being born here in Austin, I feel as if I was bred to be a Longhorn. I had the opportunity to go way out to California, but Austin is where I belong, at least for four (maybe five) more years.
What do you want to do when you graduate from the university?
When I graduate, I want to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology and become a marriage and relationships counselor while doing some clinical psychology on the side.
If you had to choose one thing about yourself to share with the university’s Web audience, what would it be?
I do everything to the best of my ability. There’s never a challenge I can’t conquer nor adversity I can’t overcome. It’s with that mentality that I get through every day of my life and progress toward a brighter future.
Who are your heroes?
My heroes are all who believe in me and what I’m trying to do. Those who are willing to go out on a limb to help me out gain my respect the most, and turn out to be the people I admire as well as aspire to be someday.
If you could travel to one spot anywhere in the world, where would you want to visit?
I’d want to visit Paris. Perhaps I can find the meaning of life there, love or just some good coffee and pictures.
What are your current favorite books? What books would you recommend to someone you just met?
My favorite books include “A Farewell to Arms” by Ernest Hemingway and “Slaughterhouse-Five” by Kurt Vonnegut. I’d recommend both of them.
What pushes your buttons? What are your pet peeves?
Nothing ever really pushes my buttons. Ignorance is my biggest pet peeve. But I’m not a big fan of the term.
What are your favorite Web sites? Why?
I don’t have any favorite Web sites outside of the good ole Facebook.
What are your favorite foods?
Favorite type of food: Italian. Least favorite type of food: Chinese (in fact, anything from east Asia). Wonderful culture, terrible food.

What are your favorite academic subjects? What are you interested in studying in the future?
One of the subjects that I’m slowly gaining interest in is ancient Greece. I also want to explore more in the field of philosophy.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
I love the Starbucks on 24th and San Antonio. I do my best reading and studying outside on the patio listening to music (usually John Mayer or Relient K).
Where are your favorite places to go in Austin? What are your favorite things to do in Austin?
I’ve lived in Austin my whole life. There are some great places such as Auditorium Shores, Zilker Park, Town Lake, 360 Bridge, 6th Street, but I always loved walking around the UT campus. Now that I’m here I love being around campus even more. As far as favorite things to do, I love playing basketball in Gregory Gym when I want fierce competition, at the RecSports Center when I want to have fun and Clarke Field when I just want to shoot around and relax.
What are your favorite free-time activities?
Some things I do in my free time include: listening to music, writing poetry, hanging out with friends, playing basketball, eating, watching TV (mostly ESPN), the usual.
Other interesting facts about you:
I have ataraxia. I’m 6′4″. I hate love. I can be a nerd sometimes. I’m a good listener and a terrible talker. I often think of things I should have said after it’s too late to say them. I love my life and want others to love their lives. I’m an impulse buyer. “I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.”
