Bruce Buchanan is a professor in the Department of Government. He is a nationally recognized expert in presidential and American politics, public policy and political behavior.
National media regularly call upon Dr. Buchanan for his political insight. During the past year, his commentary has appeared in The New York Times and The Washington Post and on CNN.
Dr. Buchanan has written several books, including “The Presidential Experience” (Prentice Hall, 1978) and “The Citizen’s Presidency” (Congressional Quarterly, 1987).
Dr. Buchanan was project director for the Markle Foundation Studies of the 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns, which led to his books, “Renewing Presidential Politics” (Rowman & Littlefield, 1996) and “Presidential Campaigns and American Democracy” (forthcoming).
