Thomas Garza is University Distinguished Teaching Associate Professor, chair of the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies and director of the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies.
His research interests include contemporary Russian youth and popular culture, teaching the cultural component in foreign languages and applications of authentic media—especially film—in language teaching. Dr. Garza’s current projects include a book manuscript on post-Soviet youth culture and a book chapter on Russian filmic portraits of the Chechen wars.
