Cristina Cabello de Martínez is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Center for Mexican American Studies, as well as guest lecturer in the College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin.
Aside from designing and teaching courses for the Heritage Student, her professional interests also include development and implementation of Spanish language courses in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. An area of research and great happiness is children’s literature and theater from Spain and Latin America. She has done extensive work with the creation of puppets, original scripts and music, Teatro Guiñol. She produces puppet shows for children in Austin area schools during the Advent season.
She received the Texas Exes Professor of the Year Award for the College of Liberal Arts in 2003-2004.
