Philip Stanforth is a lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education and director of the university’s Fitness Institute of Texas (FIT).
He teaches undergraduate courses focusing on the physiological basis of conditioning, the role of exercise in prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and obesity, and the assessment of aerobic fitness, musculo-skeletal fitness and body composition.
As director of FIT, he oversees 2,000 fitness tests conducted each year on students, athletes, faculty and staff, research subjects and the public. As director, he also helps develop and deliver health and fitness-related programs.
