TO: Graduate
Coordinators
The International Office is very pleased to announce that we have a new
program in production beginning spring 2007, whereby international
graduate students, who have a 20 hour appointment as an AI, TA or GRA,
may request their own waiver of student insurance. These students
must be UT health insurance benefits eligible.
To request
a waiver of student insurance, students can access the site at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/isss/waive_insurance.WBX.
A big thank you to all the grad coordinators who have already sent
in waiver requests for their international students for spring 2007. Those
waivers should already be reflected on students' fee bills. Only
students needing waivers for new appointments or continuing appointments,
not already requested by the department, should be directed to this site. Coordinators
NO LONGER HAVE TO SEND WAIVER REQUEST LISTS! International
grad students are now responsible for requesting an insurance waiver each
semester they are eligible due to UT employment.
Please
be aware that audits are built into the system whereby
if the student's appointment is not on the system by the 11th class
day for fall or spring or the 3rd class day for summer, they will
be billed for student health insurance, even if they have previously
requested a waiver on-line. No waiver or refund is possible after
the 12th class day. No
refunds will be granted to students who failed to act before the
deadline to request the waiver on-line.
**If a timely appointment is not possible for the student (due to circumstances
beyond the student’s or department’s control – for example,
lack of SSN) please contact Louise
Donnell in order for a manual override to
be placed on the student’s record***
