Friendship Program

International Student & Scholar Services offers UT’s International population and Austin’s community to meet and become friends with each other.

The “student/scholar” may be a single person, a couple, or a family. This is an opportunity for them to meet “locals” that will help them settle into Austin and the American lifestyle as well as share cultural insights.

The “host” may be a single person, a couple, or a family. This is an opportunity for them to meet people from various cultures and background and help them have a world experience while being here in Austin.

One of the most rewarding experiences is the opportunity to share your culture with others and learn about theirs. When you become friends with internationals or local people, there is a reciprocal exchange of traditions, customs, and lifestyles which is an exciting learning opportunity!
