Financial
Requirements
International
students attending UT-Austin in F-1 or J-1 status must show proof
of financial support. The financial requirements website will help
you estimate your costs and prepare for your arrival at UT-Austin.

Use the
International Office's housing website to assist you in your search
to find housing in Austin.
Immunizations & TB Requirements
In
order to register at The University of Texas at Austin, all students
must provide documentation of the immunizations and have a TB screening
performed. Consult the University
Health Services website for more information.
Health
Insurance
As
an international student enrolled at UT-Austin, you are required
to have health and accident insurance, which is included in the
cost of tuition and fees. It is advisable for all dependents to
have health and accident insurance. Dependents of J-1 exchange visitors
are required to have health and accident insurance.
Required Immigration Briefing and Check-in
You are required to attend the
Immigration Briefing and Check-in (IBC) to clear your international
bar and prepare to register. This 90-minute session reviews the
basic information international students need, including immigration
rules and regulations, health insurance, and registration. IBC registration
can only be done in person at the International Office.

The Welcome Guide is given at Check-In which provides information
about getting settled into UT-Austin.
Orientation
In addition to online orientation option, you may choose to attend
one of several orientation programs at UT-Austin, including orientation
in your academic department and orientation for international students.
The International Office offers three weeks of orientation events
during the month of August to accommodate your arrival schedule,
your departmental commitments and your information needs. Attendance
at most of these events is optional. Please see the Orientation
website for more information on orientation activities.
