Nonresident Alien Taxes: Preparing 2008 Federal Income Tax Returns

For International Students, Scholars, Researchers and other Nonresident Aliens

Important Notice: If you have not received your IRS form 1042 S it may be because we are lacking your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) or your current mailing address. Click here for more information.

You may not have a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) on file with the University.  In most cases, the TIN is your social security number (SSN).  International students not working in the US can have an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) instead of an SSN.  Your TIN (either SSN or ITIN) may be updated in the secure Tax ID System. The link to the secure tax ID system is on the Student Accounts Receivable website at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/acct/tax/taxreport/index.WBX

Please verify the University has your most current mailing address in your student records by updating  your Student Records Local Address in UT Direct  “All My Addressees” (see the very bottom of the page) at this link:
 https://utdirect.utexas.edu/utdirect/sitemap/index.WBX?s_cin=PERSONALINFO&s_env=PUTD&s_sf=S

Please email 1042S@austin.utexas.edu after you verify the University has your most current Taxpayer Identification Number and your most current mailing address.  Please include your UT EID and let us know you confirm the accuracy of your tax number and mailing address.  The University will mail you a 1042 S form as soon as we receive your EID and your confirmation that your TIN is updated and you have verified your current mailing address in student records.
