Friendship Program

The UT Family and Community Programs Office offers you the opportunity to meet and become friends with a family in the Austin community. This "family" may be a couple with children, a couple without children, or a single person. Whatever the situation, the family has expressed a desire to meet international students, help them settle into Austin and the American lifestyle, and share cultural insights.

Some of your most rewarding experiences in Austin will be the ones outside your classroom or laboratory, when you become friends with local people and learn about the traditions, customs, and lifestyle of people here. Although we are Texans, most of us don't fulfill the stereotype you have seen on television and in the movies -- guns, horses, cowboy hats, and saloons. To get a full understanding of what Texans and Americans are, you need to get beyond the classroom and meet us in our homes.

We are located at 600 W. 24th Street - Wooldridge Hall (WOH), at the corner of Nueces and 24th Street. The UT Family and Community Programs office is in Bungalow East, to the right of the main building.
