Emergencies
911 for emergencies, for immediate help. Police, firemen or an
ambulance should arrive within 3 minutes of your call.
311 for non-emergencies assistance from the police.
Hospitals
Know where the closest hospital is located and how to get there from your
home. In case of manageable emergencies, it will save you time and stress.
Self Defense
The University of Texas Police offer a free class for women called The
Rape Aggression Defense System. You can have more information or register

Safety Guidelines while inside your apartment:
1. Lock doors and windows
2. Don't open the door to anyone unless you recognize the person.
3. Don't put your name or address on your keys.
4. If you have loss your keys, ask to replace the locks.
5. Have a working smoke detector and a fire extinguisher.
While outside your apartment:
1. Always
lock your doors and windows.
2. Don't walk alone at night.
3. Carry your key in your hands. You are more vulnerable when looking
for your keys at the door.
4. Let the manager know if you'll be gone for an extended time.
While using your car:
1. Lock your doors.
2. Dont leave exposed items in your car.
3. Carry your keys in your hands when you are going back to your car.
4. Try to park in a well-lighted area.
