The division of Recreational Sports develops and conducts programs that provide opportunities for University Students, faculty, staff and their dependents to participate in recreational activities.

Five major program areas offer a variety of structures within which members of a University community may pursue their recreational interests. These are:

    • Outdoor Adventures: provides equipment rental plus supervised trips in a variety of activities such as backpacking, canoeing, riding, kayaking, nature hiking and rock climbing.
    • Sport Clubs: provide an opportunity to participate in a single sport on a continuing basis. Approximately 40 clubs ranging from aikido to lacrosse to sailing are active each semester.

    • Fitness & Wellness: opportunities include classes in aerobics, bench, cardiovascular and muscle conditioning, yoga and martial arts.

    • Open Recreation Programs: In addition to structured sports programs, the concept of informal recreational use of athletic facilities is promoted through this.

Additionally, the Recreational Sports Center and Gregory Gymnasium offer participants to check out sports equipment. Stores located within the facilities sell sports equipment, clothing, personal hygiene items and snacks.
