About the Position
The ITS Strategic Communications team is adding a Junior Technical Communicator to our diverse team. For those looking to broaden their writing and communication skills and acquire additional professional experience, this position offers the opportunity to grow. You will work among a creative team of junior and senior writers, graphic designers, and database and content developers in a shared vision to identify and communicate the technical needs of the university community.
The campus environment offers you the opportunity to work directly with technical experts, project managers, and other stakeholders. You will also have the ability to interact with and create content for audiences spanning the university’s students, faculty, and staff.
The chosen candidate for this position will be responsible for:
- Planning and executing technical documentation projects that meet user information needs.
- Learning to plan and implement related communication strategies.
- Learning to integrate different types of communication tasks for a common goal.
- Experience with Web publishing and a background in technical communications.
- The ability to identify audience needs and plan appropriate documentation for projects.
- Familiarity with working in a team environment.

About Strategic Communications
Strategic Communications is a small, high-performance group that reports to the Vice President for Information Technology. We support the Vice President, Information Technology Services and the Information Security Office through content development, Web publishing, communications planning and strategic planning, among other responsibilities. We also plan and coordinate events, support internal communications and inform the campus about central technology options. Some of the many functions performed within our group include technical documentation, communications, graphic design, Web design, Web publishing, information architecture, business analysis and strategic planning.
