Position Description
Title: Student Technician (Information Security Programmer)
Appointment: 19 hrs/ week
Proposed start date: 03-01-2008
Proposed salary: $14.50-16.50/hr, based on experience.
Purpose of Position
The person in this position will work with analysts and programmers in the Information Security Office (ISO) and will focus on tool development, process streamlining, and federated web application development to help the ISO manage security and risk on one of the largest single campus networks in the country.
Essential Functions
- Must subscribe to a rational distrust of most things.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Must be timely, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Work with ISO analysts to develop new information security tools and applications.
- Assist in the innovation and support of existing ISO incident management applications.
- Research and investigate new information security trends and techniques.
- Manage documentation for tools and services that are developed.
- Must have a commitment to excellence in customer service and usability.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of programming experience with: Java, Javascript, Ruby on Rails, Coldfusion, PCRE, PHP, or PERL.
- One or more years of platform experience with: Linux, Windows, and OSX.
- One or more years of service experience with: MS-SQL, MySQL, or Coldfusion.
