UTnet Fast Facts

UTnet is a ubiquitous communication infrastructure at The University of Texas at Austin. UTnet carries all of the university's Internet-based interactions, including all university Web traffic, electronic mail, and terminal-based transactions with the administrative computing system.

The goals for UTnet are that existing services be improved and incrementally extended, new technology be introduced in an evolutionary manner, and new opportunities to avoid or reduce costs be exploited. Telecommunication technology, including both equipment and services, continues to be dynamic in development and scope.
