Position Description

Title: Student Programmer (Senior Student Associate)
Hiring Department: ITS-Applications
Job Location: Main UT-Austin Campus, NOA Building, Austin, TX
Appointment: 15-19 hours a week
Salary: $10.00 per hour
Date Available: Immediately

Job Description

  • ITS-Applications employs student programmers to produce Web-based applications for students, faculty, and staff under the direction of ITS-Applications staff.
  • Student programmers can expect to work with customers, clients, and staff across campus in the attempt to provide technology solutions to university business challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong programming skills in PHP, Java or ColdFusion.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and design.
  • Some exposure to at least one Database Management System with general SQL knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • High degree of personal responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Active student status at The University of Texas at Austin.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with Flash or XML.
  • Experience with more than one of the languages listed above.
  • Expertise in Oracle or MySQL.
  • Business experience with the software development process.
  • Ability to continue working through the summer.
