RESTORED: Intermittent Virtual Private Network Outage
Service Restored

Users may have been unable to authenticate to the VPN Service from 4:45 PM to 6:20 PM on June 30,  2009.  Problem was reported at around 6:10 PM.  The service has been restored and is functioning normally.

A process died on one of the VPN authentication servers and was restarted.  Some of the authentication traffic was routed to the secondary authentication server, thus allowing some users to authenticate.  But some users were still trying to authenticate with the problematic server, denying them to authenticate to the VPN service.
