RESOLVED: ITS Public Pages Down

‘Out of connection’ errors were reported at around 10:30 AM.  After investigating and finding excessive connections and memory depletion, this service was restarted and is running normally at this time.  We continue to monitor the service.

Around 10:30 a.m. 1/17/12, sites under www.utexas.edu/its stopped serving pages, and instead show:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /export/httpd/data/its/events/includes/mysql_connect_calendar.php on line 19
We’re sorry—an error occurred and a connection to the database could not be established.

This is also known to be affecting www.utexas.edu/know/, which is linked from the university’s home page
