Potential Fraudulent Incoming Phone Calls
Under Investigation

We have configured the phone system so that calls cannot be placed to the number in the DR.  This will minimize our exposure to the high toll charges.  Unfortunately, there is no way to block incoming calls from this number (either by us or by AT&T) so there will probably be some “spam” messages in customers’ SmartVoice boxes.

We just received an alert from the AT&T Fraud department warning us of suspicious calling activity originating from the Dominican Republic (DR), phone number: 767-275-4471.

The scam works like this…the caller wants to leave a message in a voice mail box so the that the victim will call back the number in the DR and incur high toll charges for the returned call.

If you receive a call from this number in your SmartVoice Box, do NOT return the call.
