As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/28/2016.

RESOLVED: Update from Canvas: supported browsers
Service Restored

Internet Explorer 10 was released in September 2012, and normally that would cause us to no longer actively develop for Internet Explorer 8.  We were aware that some institutions still had Windows XP machines that were unable to upgrade Internet Explorer, so we extended our support efforts through March 31, 2013.

After March 31, 2013, we will no longer actively develop or provide bug fixes for Internet Explorer 8.

What does this mean? Future Canvas releases will not be tested to ensure that new features and updates work the same in IE 8 as in other browsers. Over time, this will likely degrade the user experience for people who try to use Canvas in IE 8.

If many faculty members and students at your institution use IE 8, we recommend you forewarn them of the change and help them adopt another browser.

We typically support the two most recent versions of the major browsers. You can find a current list of supported browsers in the Canvas Guides.
