As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/28/2016.

RESOLVED: Delays on inbound mail this afternoon
Service Restored

On Wed 12 Feb 2014 between 15:00 and 16:10, we experienced a large influx of mail from the outside world that backlogged our inbound IronPort servers. Once the influx ended at 16:10, the backlog began draining and was cleared out at 16:54. Mail was delayed but not lost. The load was not spread evenly across all our inbound servers, so the delay was highly variable during the event.

Outbound mail was not affected, nor was mail between on-campus services which route their outbound traffic through the IronPorts. All this traffic is handled on separate hardware, and was unaffected by the delays on the inbound side. Traffic between on-premises AEMS and Office 365 was not affected because AEMS and Office 365 communicate directly with each other.
