UT Direct PDF Generator
Under Investigation

ITS has placed a new version of UT Direct PDF Generator into the production UT Direct environment.

We believe this version fixes all reported problems. 

One known bug exists: If a secured document is requested and are you are not logged in, you will be prompted to login.  Instead of redirecting you back to your original request (and handing you the document), the you will be redirected to the UT Direct homepage.  ITS will continue to develop a fix for this condition.

An update will follow at 2:00 PM, or earlier as warranted.

ITS has placed a new version of UT Direct PDF Generator into the Qual UT Direct environment.  We are planning to release to Production UT Direct today.
Until then, ITS continues testing in the Qual UT Direct environment with assistance from groups that have reported problems from the University.

ITS has completed remediation and initial testing of a fix to the UT Direct PDF Generator. 
ITS will continue testing in development and qual UT Direct environments, with assistance from groups that have reported problems from the University.

Attempts to generate PDFs from within UT Direct have proven inconsistent; PDF creation success and failure are intermittent, even using the same combinations of browser and OS.
ITS has begun prototyping solutions for the PDF Generator application, and we hope to be able to test with a wider audience this afternoon.

ITS Systems Middleware continues to investigate and has obtained assistance from developers in ITS Applications in the effort.

No workaround has been identified yet, though the team has identified promising leads.  We will update the list again on Wednesday at 12 noon.

Analysis of code and transactional process traces have resulted in identification of sections in the PDF Generator that may be responsible for the undesired behavior.  ITS continues to investigate and debug this issue.

ITS has been notified of problems using the “PDF generator” within UT Direct.

This service is most commonly used to create electronic copies of W-2s and systematically generated letters.

ITS is attempting to reliably reproduce the problem and troubleshoot the issue.

An update will follow no later than 1.30PM, or earlier as warranted.ITS continues to investigate and debug this issue.

RESOLVED: Austin Active Directory Domain Controller (DC01) Reboot
Service Restored

3:24 PM
This emergency reboot completed successfully and resolved the issue observed.


8:56 AM
The Austin Active Directory domain controller DC01 will be rebooted at 9:00 AM in conjunction with an open support case with Microsoft.  No user impact is expected.  Some technical staff may need to reconnect management tools that are directly bound to DC01.
