RESOLVED: Inbound email delays
Service Restored

4:59 PM
The email backlogs finished draining out at 4:45 PM. All inbound email security appliances are online and operating properly with no delays.


3:34 PM
An additional influx of email has worsened the backlog condition on our inbound email security appliances. ITS staff are taking action to remediate the backlog.


1:44 PM
Two of our four inbound IronPort email security appliances are backlogged. This is causing delivery delays on mail inbound to all mail services which use our anti-spam service, or are otherwise routed through the IronPort ESAs. This includes all mail services operated by ITS, and many departmental mail services which use our spam filtering service. Mail between users on the same mail service (e.g. from one AEMS user to another), is not affected, nor is mail between ITS-provided mail services (e.g. from AEMS to UT Lists).

Office 365 and UTmail are a special case. Mail inbound to these services goes through our inbound ESAs, and so is affected by these delays just as mail inbound to our other services. However, outbound mail from these cloud-based services to on-campus recipients is also affected. These services are external to campus, and therefore their outbound mail coming to campus must traverse the inbound ESAs.

The backlogs are dropping rapidly as of this writing, and should be clear before 3:00 PM.

jEdit/DMG plugin update: Status is unchanged as work continues.  We will update the list in 24-hour increments during the work week.  The next update will be 4:00 PM tomorrow, Friday 8/22, or earlier if we have more information.
Systems staff have determined the root cause of this issue and are actively pursuing resolution via development efforts.
Developers can still upload webAgent scripts via the DMG web interface.

jEdit/DMG plugin update: The problem is at a much lower level than anticipated and will take serious analysis and perhaps development work for final remediation.
Please continue to use the web interface for uploads.

Despite thorough testing, we have discovered an issue with the jEdit plugin for DMG this morning.
The workaround for webagent development is to use the DMG web interface (https://dpdev1.dp.utexas.edu/cgi-bin/dmg/index.cgi) to upload your webAgent scripts from your desktop.
Systems staff are investigating the issue.

RESOLVED: Update from Canvas: Error messages / slowness in Canvas for some users
Service Restored

Our engineers have resolved the issue that was causing slowness and error messages for some users in Canvas. All users should be able to use Canvas as normal now.
