Forwarding Your Messages
You can set your basic e-mail to automatically forward e-mail messages to another e-mail address. Forwarding only affects new messages. Messages that are currently in your mailbox will not be forwarded to the new address.
Please note: If you have left the university, be sure to set a forwarding address. Your basic e-mail messages will be forwarded for six months and then your account will be closed. See How long does basic e-mail stay active? for more information if you are leaving the university.
To forward your basic e-mail messages:
- Log into the basic e-mail management page (UT EID required).
- At the Main menu, click the Forwarding button.
- At the New Forwarding Address text box, enter the address where your basic e-mail should be forwarded, then click Proceed.
- At the Forwarding Address Changed screen, click the Return to Main Menu button, then click the Logout button.
After you forward your mail, check your basic e-mail mailbox for unread messages. You can also send a test message to your basic e-mail address to ensure it is forwarded correctly.
To cancel forwarding your mail:

- At the Main menu, click the Forwarding button.
- Click the Cancel Forwarding button.
