Checking for DST Updates

This page provides instructions for determining whether or not your computer has already been updated for Daylight Saving Time 2007:

Windows 7

Windows 7 users do not need to take any action, as the software is compliant with current DST rules.

Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Millennium, 98, and 95

To see if your Windows Vista, XP, or 2000 computer has been updated:

  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Make sure the Show updates option is selected.
  3. Look for the KB970653 patch (you will probably need to scroll down to the bottom of the window). If you see it, your computer has been updated for DST. If not, your computer has not been updated, and you need to update your Windows computer now.

If you use Windows Millennium, 98, or 95 you will need to update your computer's clock manually. Refer to the Microsoft's document Determining the impact of Daylight Saving Time 2007 on your home computer for instructions.

Mac OS X (10.3.9, 10.4, 10.5, 10.6)

Macintoshes running Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6 do not require a software update.

To see if your Macintosh OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4 computer has been updated:

  1. Make sure your computer is online (connected to the Internet).
  2. From the Apple menu, select Software Updates.
  3. Check to see if your computer reports "Your software is up to date." If so, the DST updates have been installed. If not, your computer has not been updated, and you need to update your Mac now.
