Installing DST Updates
Windows 7
Windows 7 users do not need to take any action, as the software is compliant with current DST rules.
Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Millennium, 98, and 95
Windows Vista does not require any updates for DST. However, Outlook users may be prompted to accept appointment updates to their Outlook calendars. Do so. After accepting these updates, and no further action will be necessary.
Windows XP SP1 users should:
- Upgrade to SP2. For information on how to upgrade, refer to How to upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 2.
- Proceed to the instructions for Windows XP SP2 users.
Windows XP SP2 users should:
- Install the August 2007 cumulative time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Configure your computer for automatic updates. From the Start menu, select Control Panel, then Automatic updates. Make sure the Automatic option is selected.
Windows 2000 Professional and Server users should:
- Download and install the Windows 2000 hotfix from BevoWare (UT EID required). BevoWare is available to UT Austin students, faculty, and staff only.
- UT Systems components should contact ITS Software Distribution & Sales for information on obtaining the hotfix.
Windows Millennium, 98, and 95 are no longer supported by the university or Microsoft. However, if you are using one of these operating systems, you should:
Refer to the Microsoft's document Determining the impact of Daylight Saving Time 2007 on your home computer for instructions on how to manually change your computer's date and time settings.
If you use a calendar such as Outlook, Entourage, or Meeting Maker, you should also check your appointments to make sure they are correct.
Mac OS X (10.3.9, 10.4, 10.5, 10.6)
Mac OS X 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.6 users do not need to take any action. Your software is automatically up-to-date if you are using Mac OS X 10.5 or better
Mac OS X 10.4 users should:

Mac OS X 10.3.9 users should:
Install the Daylight Saving Time Update (Panther).
Mac OS X 10.0.x through 10.2.8 users should:
Adjust your clock manually using the Date and Time preferences. Be sure to deselect the option to set date and time automatically.

Mobile Devices
iPhone users do not need to take any action, as the device is compliant with current DST rules.
Visit the BlackBerry Patch page on the RIM Web site to download the appropriate patch for your BlackBerry.
Note: If you subscribe to Austin BlackBerry Service, your device has already been automatically updated for DST and no further action is needed.
- Using your PC, visit the iPAQ Pocket PCs Web site.
- Choose the correct update for your device and operating system. It should install automatically on your PC.
- Connect your iPAQ to your PC, and the update will be automatically installed on your iPAQ.
Palm Treo 650, 680, & 750 users should:
Go to the Palm Daylight Saving Time Update for Palm OS Devices Web site and follow the instructions appropriate for your situation (updating from your PC or Mac, or updating from your Palm device).
Windows CE users should manually adjust the clock for DST:
- In Control Panel, open Date/Time.
- In the Date/Time Properties dialog box, make sure that the time zone is set to the correct time zone for your area.
- Click to clear the Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving check box.
- Click OK.
- Manually adjust the clock at the start of daylight saving time (March 11, 2007) and at the end of daylight saving time (November 4, 2007).
Note: This method may not work for all Windows CE devices. See the owner's manual for the appropriate steps to turn off automatic clock updates for daylight saving time on your device.
