Beginning October 7, 2009, electrical work in the Flawn Academic Center (FAC) will make computers and power outlets unavailable in the first floor reading room and outer lobby. These areas will continue to operate as lounge and collaborative spaces while the electrical work takes place. The SMF computer lab on the 2nd floor is now open 24 hours to accommodate your needs.
Overview
Use of the FAC computer labs is open to all students, faculty, and staff at The University of Texas at Austin. Computers are accessed with your UT EID. The service is provided at no additional cost. In order to print in this facility, you must have a prepaid account such as Bevo Bucks (students) or IT Prepaid Account (staff). See the ITS Printing Service pages for instructions on printing in the labs.
All labs are quiet study areas - please be courteous.
Student Microcomputing Facility (SMF)
The Student Microcomputing Facility (SMF) is open to all university students, faculty, and staff. The lab is located in the Flawn Academic Center on the second floor in room 212.
Area 101
FAC 101B Electronic Classroom
The electronic classroom is open to all university students, faculty, and staff. The room may occasionally be unavailable if it is scheduled for special events through the UT Libraries. The lab is located in the Flawn Academic Center on the first floor in room 101.
General Reading Area
This space is designed for the most optimal studying and social area that a building of this size can provide without having its own weather pattern associated with it.
Equal Access to Computers
All stations are equipped with screen magnifiers and text narrators. Please ask the front desk proctors for assistance.
Adaptive hardware and software for the visually impaired are located at the PCL. Please ask the A/V reference desk for further information.
