Adding Administrative or Service Accounts to Active Directory
User passwords must contain at least one character from each of the following character groups: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters.
Service account passwords must be at least 16 characters long. All other passwords must be at least 8 characters long.
Log in to the Active Directory Administration Tools.
Click Create User on the left.
Select the user's OU from the Select a Departmental OU drop-down list.
Enter the user's EID in the Enter the New Username field.
Note: The account name created during this process will be prefixed by the OU name that the user belongs to (for example, "ACES-newuser").
Select an account type for the user.
If the user will be administering the OU, select Administrative.
Note: The user's password will expire in 120 days.
If the user will only be running services, select Service.
If the user will be performing a subset of OU administrator tasks, select Power User.
Enter a description of the account (for example, "BackUp Executive Service Account") in the Account Description field.
Select the user's account status.
If you want the account to be enabled immediately, select Enabled.
If you want to force the user to change their password the next time they log in, select Enabled (Force Password Change).
If you want to create the account without enabling it, select Disabled.
Enter a password for the user in the Enter Password and Confirm Password fields.
Click Create User.
