Forefront Client Security: Supported Operating Systems
Forefront Client Security is supported by Microsoft for a number of operating systems. You must have the latest patches installed in order for Forefront to install successfully.
Desktop Operating Systems
Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 and Update Rollup 1
Windows XP, Professional, Home and Tablet Editions, SP2 or later, x86 and x64
Windows Vista SP1 and SP2; x86 and x64
Windows 7 x86 and x64
Forefront Client Security does not work on Windows XP Media Center. There are several free anti-virus alternatives you can try, including ClamWin, avast!, and AVG Free. Remember to completely uninstall any other anti-virus products you have before installing a new product.
Server Operating Systems
Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter, and clusters with SP4 Update Rollup 1
Windows Server 2003, any edition, SP1 or later, x86 and x64, and clusters
Windows Server 2008, Enterprise, Standard, Core, and HPC Edition, SP1 and SP2, x86 and x64, and clusters
Windows Servers running Terminal Services
