Departmental Account Sponsor Handbook
UT Financial Accounts
All charges accrued by the users of your ITS computer account must be paid with funds from a UT Austin financial account, administered by the Office of Accounting.
Financial account numbers identify accounts that either:
Are appropriated by the Texas Legislature to the University, such as departmental MO&E funds
Come from a grant or bequest outside the University.
Each UT financial account has an account owner or authorized signer whose signature must be on all forms used to disburse funds. This person is usually the head of a department or the principal investigator of a research grant.
It is difficult to estimate how much money you should authorize for computer work because there are many variables involved, such as the nature of the work, the skill of the users, etc. For helpful information in estimating the amount, refer to the Web pages for that service. Also, by looking at the costs for similar projects in your department and adjusting for current rates, you should be able to get a general idea of what is needed.
Note: If you are applying for a research grant that involves computing, the application should include a request for funding for that computing.
