Logging In to a Departmental Account
For everything except Unix, users use their UT EIDs and passwords to log in to ITS services.
Each user logs in to an ITS system, using a user ID (also called user name or login ID). On some computer systems, your user ID is identical to your user number (for example, WXYZ123). On other machines, you may select a different user ID the first time you log in. These user IDs are simply names for users' convenience, and each user ID is mapped to a user number. Only the user number is significant to the ITS accounting system.
