Designing a Network to Meet Your Needs
ITS consults with departments to design robust, reliable, and efficient network infrastructure to fit the department's needs. All network connections to UTnet must be engineered and installed by ITS staff.
ITS provides its network consulting services at no charge to departments in order to ensure reliable and secure networking at the university. Departments are responsible for funding the equipment (for example, routers, switches, hubs, gateways, termination hardware), and wiring necessary to connect to UTnet and must comply with ITS recommendations; again, this is to ensure reliable and secure networking at the university. Non-compliant equipment may result in a compromised or inefficient network.
