Enterprise Whole Disk Encryption
Using SecureDoc With Hardware Encryption for Macintosh Computers
SecureDoc used with self-encrypting drives in Macintosh computers is only recommended for those models that have 64bit EFI. The 32-bit EFI versions experience an error on installation that enters an endless logic loop. While not a fatal error, it is very annoying and can make operation of the Mac miserable.
Not sure if your Mac has 32- or 64-bit EFI? You can check a Mac’s EFI version by entering the following command in Terminal:
ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi
It will return either “EFI32" or “EFI64.”
