Determining Appropriate Messages
Users considering sending a message via the Group E-Mail System should consider the following four questions:
Does the message further the business of the university?
Does the email content impact a significant percentage of the recipients of the list?
Are message recipients likely to be interested in the subject or need to know the subject information?
Does the message meet any additional criteria communicated by the Group Contact?
In addition, messages must fit in to one of the following categories:
Informational - Any communication that increases the awareness of campus activities, events, or services. For example, parking disruptions.
Note: University employees and students may unsubscribe from receiving "Informational" messages via Official E-mail Options.
Operational - Communication that requires some action on the recipient's part or a required notification by the University. For example, a message about benefits eligible information.
Official - A non-urgent communication from an executive officer. For example, a message from the University President.
Urgent - An urgent announcement from an executive officer regarding an imminent event. For example, a message about the school closing.
