Long Distance Services (Legacy)
Improper Use of Long Distance Services
The following is a copy of the memo that is sent to all new UT long distance customers to define improper use of services:
TO: All Holders of University Telephone Authorization Codes and Telephone Credit Cards
FROM: ITS-TN Long Distance Services
SUBJECT: Use of University Telephone System for Personal Long-Distance Calls
The purpose of this memorandum is to remind all holders of University telephone authorization codes that personal long-distance calls may not be charged to University accounts. It is against the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents
(Part II, Chapter VII, Section 6) to charge personal telephone calls to a University of Texas account either by using University telephone authorization codes or University-issued calling cards.
Personal long-distance calls from University telephones should be made by use of personal telephone calling cards, collect calls, toll-free numbers or third-number billing. Operator assistance is required for some types of long-distance calls.
The improper use of The University telephone system for toll calls may subject the employee to disciplinary action and penalty charges. In addition, such use will result in the cancellation of all telephone authorization codes and/or telephone calling cards issued by The University to the individual involved.
Questions concerning long-distance service should be directed to ITS Long Distance Services at 512-471-8853.
