Making Long Distance Calls Using Your Long Distance Authorization Code
To make a long distance call from the university using your long distance authorization code:
Lift the handset from the cradle. You will hear a dial tone.
Dial "8". You will hear a stutter dial tone.
Dial your long distance authorization code. You will hear a second dial tone.
After second dial tone begins, dial Area Code + phone number. Do not dial a "1" before the area code. You will hear the phone ringing.
Entering a "#" after dialing the authorization code will eliminate the wait for a second dial tone.
Entering a "#" after dialing the long distance number will shorten call set up time.
If all the outgoing lines are busy, you will hear a distinct tone (queuing tone) or recorded announcement (queuing announcement) indicating your call is in queue. Continue holding. The system will complete your call as soon as a line becomes free.
