Products: Microsoft Desktop Operating System Upgrades
Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) operating system licenses for the desktop are upgrade licenses and require that you have an existing fully-licensed version of a Microsoft Windows desktop operating system licensed for your machine. Full Windows desktop licenses cannot be purchased through any Microsoft volume licensing agreement. They can only be purchased as a Fully Packaged Product (FPP) through a retail outlet OR installed on a new computer through an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) such as Dell, HP, Sony, etc.
The application licenses (Office Suite) do NOT have this requirement.
Although the Campus Agreement does provide full downgrade licensing (previous versions of Windows), Students and Faculty/Staff Work-at-Home users can only purchase the latest version of Windows Operating Systems through their campus distribution point. Departments (but not individuals) can purchase media for previous versions through the Microsoft Select Large Account Reseller, but availability may be limited.
