SharePoint 2007/2010 - Best Practices for Internet Explorer 10+

To allow full functionality of SharePoint 2007/2010 with newer versions of the Internet Explorer browser (IE 10 and higher), ITS recommends making the following changes to your browser’s settings:
Add your SharePoint 2007/2010 site to the Compatibility View list
Add your SharePoint 2007/2010 site to the Local Intranet security zone

Note: If you are unable to modify these settings, your computer may be managed by your department. Please reach out to your local Technical Support Contact (TSC) for more details.

Add your SharePoint 2007/2010 site to the Compatibility View list

  1. In Internet Explorer, click the cogwheel in the upper-right corner, then select Compatibility View settings:

  2. In the Add this website text field of the window that appears, enter the URL of your SharePoint site (e.g. https://sharepoint.austin.utexas.edu) and press Add:

  3. The second-level domain name of the website (e.g. utexas.edu) should now appear in the list labeled Websites you’ve added to Compatibility View. Make sure that the box labeled Display intranet sites in Compatibility View is checked, then click Close:

Add your SharePoint 2007/2010 site to the Local Intranet security zone

  1. In Internet Explorer, click the cogwheel in the upper-right corner, then select Internet Options:
