ITS recommends using either Firefox 3.5 or Internet Explorer 7 with SharePoint. There are some issues with Internet Explorer 8 (with or without compatibility mode) on a system running Windows XP service pack 3. However, SharePoint seems to work well on Microsoft Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 8.
