As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/28/2016.

Listening to Voice Mail Messages

To see whether you have voice messages waiting, look for the 'voice mail waiting' indicator, which may be one of the following:

  • a red flashing light or a button on your telephone set

  • an intermittent dial tone when you pick up your receiver

  • a forwarded message in your email inbox, if you forward your messages to an email account

When you log in to your SmartVoice mailbox, you will hear how many voice and text messages you have. Voice messages are those that contain a recorded message. Text messages are created when you receive an email in your voice mailbox or when someone calls you and hangs up without recording a message.

Each message is preceded by a "message envelope," which contains the caller's name, phone number, and the time and date of the call.

To listen to a message, log in to SmartVoice, then press 2.

Messages are played in the following order:

  1. New (not yet listened to) voice messages

  2. New (not yet listened to) text messages

  3. Saved voice messages

  4. Saved text messages

You can customize SmartVoice to play new messages automatically if you prefer.
