uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED)

Types of TED Accounts

There are two types of accounts in TED: user accounts and service accounts. User accounts are issued to people and service accounts are issued to systems and applications. User accounts must not be used by systems or applications and, similarly, individuals must not use service account credentials to connect directly to TED.

Required Authorizations

All users and services authorized to access TED are provided "basic" access rights. This level of authorization allows a user/service to search for, retrieve, and view 99% of the data contained in TED. However, additional authorization is required to retrieve certain restricted records and data attributes. The following table summarizes the access controls in place within TED.
