Making Calls (Long Distance): University Authorization Codes, Domestic Calls
| What You Do | What You Hear |
|---|---|
| 1) Lift the handset from the cradle. | Dial Tone |
| 2) Dial "8". | Stutter Dial Tone |
| 3) Dial your long distance authorization code. | Second Dial Tone |
| 4) After second dial tone begins, dial Area Code + phone number. Do not dial a "1" before the area code. | Ringing |
Notes
Entering a "#" after dialing the authorization code will eliminate the wait for a second dial tone.
Entering a "#" after dialing the long distance number will shorten call setup time.
If all the outgoing lines are busy, you will hear a distinct tone (queuing tone) or recorded announcement (queuing announcement) indicating your call is in queue. Continue holding. The system will complete your call as soon as a line becomes free.
