Setting Up Email - Entourage 2004
Configuring Entourage
Open Entourage.
From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
Select the Mail tab, then select New.
Select Configure account manually in the Account Setup Assistant window.
NOTE: In Entourage 11.2.3, select Assist me, then proceed with Step 5.
Select the Account type from the drop-down list in the New Account dialog, then click OK. (Choose either IMAP or POP depending on how you want to define your account.)
In the Edit Account window:
Enter a name for this email account (such as "UT Mail" or "My Account") in the Account name field.
Enter your name in the Name field.
Enter your email address (umbs-username@mail.utexas.edu) in the Email address field.
Enter** mail.utexas.edu** in the {IMAP|POP} server field. (You will see either IMAP or POP depending on how you defined your account.)
Enter your account ID (the part of your email address before the @ sign) in the Account ID field.
Enter your password in the Password field.
Enter mail.utexas.edu in the SMTP server field.
Click OK.
If Entourage tries to connect at this point, click Cancel.
Securing Entourage
In the Accounts window, select the account you just created and click the Edit button.
Select the Account Settings tab.
Click the Click here for advanced receiving options button.
Make sure This {IMAP|POP} service requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked. (You will see either IMAP or POP depending on how you defined your account.) This will cause the port number to change, which is OK.
Click the small square in the top left corner of the pop-up to dismiss it.
If the SMTP server listed under the Sending mail heading is "mail.utexas.edu", click the Click here for advanced sending options button.
Check SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL).
Select Override default SMTP port and enter '587' in the Port field.
Make sure SMTP server requires authentication is checked.
Make sure Use same settings as receiving mail server is selected.
Click the small square in the top left corner of the pop-up to dismiss it.
Click OK to dismiss the Edit Account dialog.
Close the Accounts window.
NOTE: Send a test email from another account to your UMBS email account to make sure everything works.
