Configuring a Desktop Client to Receive UTS Email
Each email client (e.g. Outlook, Mac Mail, Entourage) varies slightly in configuring options for email accounts, but all the programs have a standard set of email settings to modify. Below are the required settings for sending and receiving your UTS email from an email client.
Note: The UTS mail system will only send mail if you successfully access your mailbox first. Your authenticated mailbox access temporarily grants permission for your computer to send messages.
Receiving mail:
Account ID/ Username: utsusername
Password: utspassword
POP/ IMAP server: "uts.cc.utexas.edu"
Secure connection (SSL) is required
Sending mail:
SMTP server: "uts.cc.utexas.edu"
Port number: "587"
Secure connection (SSL) is not available.
SMTP server does NOT require that you set up password authentication. However, as noted above you must access your mailbox as an authenticated user before your computer will be allowed to send mail through the SMTP server.
