Setting Up an E-Mail Forward

Make sure you have logged in to an SSH Client and are at the Unix terminal. Instructions on how to log in to an SSH Client can be found at the Help page.

  1. Return to your home directory by entering the command cd ~ at the terminal.

  2. Enter cat > .forward.

    Do not forget the period in front of forward.

  3. At the blank line enter the e-mail address where you want to receive e-mail, and press Enter. Repeat this step if you want e-mail forwarded to multiple addresses.

  4. Press Ctrl + D to save the file and return to the terminal.

Note: If a forward is already set up, this process will overwrite the previous .forward file.
