Web Publishing on Unix

Setting Up a UTS Account

A departmentally funded account with UTS (Unix Timesharing Service) is required for Web Central access and publishing on the Web Central Unix environment. If you do not have a UTS account, your department’s account sponsor will need to add one to the Web Publisher’s EID via the TRAC account tool. If you are unable to locate your department's account sponsor, please call the ITS Help Desk at 512-475-9400.

ITS Accounting will send the username and password for your account via email to the TRAC group sponsor, whose responsibility it is to pass along the information to the account holder.

Once a new account is created, the account holder must log in once to the server to select a personalized username, which we will use to assign permissions to the publishing space. Information about logging in can be found at http://www.utexas.edu/its/help/web-publishing-on-unix.

Please note that all UTS account holders must be active university staff or faculty members. If an external developer needs access to the system, the department must sponsor the account and share the access information to the external developer for only as long as necessary.
